Our Baby Boy's Nursery

Now that you've seen our baby girl's nursery, it's time to see our baby boy's room!

I had a lot of ideas for Samuel's room! My initial thought was to do a woodland theme, but I couldn't decide exactly what I wanted and wanted it to be more 'boy' than neutral.

So of course, I scoured Pinterest for hours and hours, and finally decided on an elephant theme!

Jungle animals are everywhere and elephants seem to be really 'in,' so it was pretty easy to find decor that went with the theme.

I wanted to make his bedding and curtains but I was pretty sick during his pregnancy (although I did manage to make the curtains for Leah's big girl room during that time!) and unfortunately just wasn't feeling up to it. I was able to DIY a lot in his room though, which I'm pretty proud of.

This was a little girl's room before we moved in, so we had a bit of work to do!

Here's the before:

And after!

We went with blue walls and grey accents. I think we could've added in a third colour as well, but I like the simplicity of just two colours.

I was going to order some super cute bedding on etsy, but then I found the chevron bedding at Target for an amazing price. Handmade would have been nice, but I find the comforter of baby bedding doesn't get used too much anyways. The curtains were from Target too.

All of the furniture was from Leah's nursery. Aside from a few bite marks on the crib, everything was in great shape, so it just made sense to use it again.

The wall decals were from Etsy and I know the left elephant is a bit crooked - we did our best and then were scared to try and move it!

I bought all of the bins and the pillow for the glider from BouClair - love that store!

The frame with his newborn photo was a gift and that has now been moved to the dresser because his birth stats print is on the shelf.

I may or may not have arranged the cloth diapers so the blues and greys were showing for the above photo...

The elephant "You are my Sunshine" prints are from Home Sense. These were an amazing find for many reasons:

1) I adore that song! My Mom used to sing it to me and I sing it to my kids all the time
2) I have a "You are my Sunshine" print for Leah's room as well
3) They have elephants
4) They matched my colour scheme!

How cool is that?!?!!

The elephant piggy bank was from Chapters/Indigo and the handprint kit was a gift as well.

My Mom made the tissue paper flowers for Samuel's baby shower and we took them home and hung them up!

  4. I adore this theme and the colors! Pinterest wasn't super popular when we were working on our nursery...now I have a ton of different themes pinned and can't wait to decorate a 2nd nursery (if that time ever comes for us!). Grey will definitely be one of the main colors we use for a boy or girl!
