30 Day Squat Fitness Challenge

As always - and like so many others - I have resolved to be better to my body this year.

I love my body but know I need to increase my fruit and vegetable intake, so I've decided to start a food journal to ensure I'm getting enough of each. I'm 8 days in, and so far, it's going pretty well! Most days I am able to get in quite a few servings, and seeing it written down is keeping me accountable.

I feel that in general our family eats mostly good food and does get enough fruits and vegetables, but as a Mom I'm always putting the needs of Leah before my own. I do well at dinner, but sometimes struggle with breakfast and lunch, because I'm always making sure that Leah gets enough enough fruit and vegetables, and she clears her tray so darn fast that sometimes I barely get a chance to eat!

I know that it's really important to set a good example, and that Leah will do as I do, not as I say, so I'm going to try and stick with this.

I also just found out about this 30 Day Fitness Challenges website, and with a few other Mom friends, I'm taking part in the 30 Day Squat Challenge.

In the summer and fall, our family would go for a walk every night, but since it's been cold out we haven't been getting much exercise. I will take Leah out on her sled occasionally, but we usually don't go far, so I'm definitely in need of some kind of fitness plan.

I really like this idea because I can do the squats at home, on my time, and they don't take long at all. Apparently this challenge will tone up my "leg, butt and core muscles", which sounds good to me!

I started yesterday (starting on January 1st would have been ideal, but I just found out about it), and the first 50 squats were pretty easy, but they did burn! I feel surprisingly good today though; not sore at all.

I can't even imagine myself being able to do 250 squats in a day, but I'm embracing the challenge!
(... And looking forward to the rest days!!)
