Saying Goodbye

I remember the excitement I felt the first time I saw my very own nameplate adorning my classroom's door. It was the last week of August, and I began my first year of teaching soon after.

Seeing my classroom come together in such a short period of time was very surreal.

I really couldn't believe that I was going to be not only teaching, but that I had my very own class.

It's been almost a year since then!

I am now preparing for my second year of teaching.

There are a lot of things to be excited about - including a new classroom and an amazing new group of students - but I can't help feeling a little sad.

While back at school this week, it really hit me that this year is going to be much different.

I will no longer be in my old room, and will no longer be teaching the same great students. I'll also be sporting a new name! (Although I did try it out for the month of June).

I've heard that you never forget your first class; that they always have a special place in your heart. I think that will definitely be the case!

However, I have the amazing privilege to stay at my current school, and I will get to see them on a regular basis - in the halls and on the playground.

On the last day of school, I received a card with the following saying:

"Life is Precious, Handle with Prayer"

I plan on doing just that!
