A Day of Rest

With my busy schedule, it can be difficult to actually rest on Sundays. Usually Saturdays are spent preparing for the wedding, and Sundays I usually clean and prepare for the school week.

However, today was different.

This afternoon, Joel, Brent and I attended a funeral for one of my favourite teachers. His passing is a tragic loss, and it was an emotional day to say the least.

After lunch I headed home and did end up tidying a little. I've been listening to a new radio station that plays a lot of oldies, and decided to listen while folding clothes. It was nice to just clear my mind and listen to the familiar tunes.

Joel and I both love the oldies. While listening, I couldn't help but be reminded of a favourite memory. Last winter, Joel and I went to the ROM with Rebekah and Luke. We saw the Dead Sea scrolls, which was very cool. Nonetheless; not my favourite part of the outing. After leaving the museum, Joel and I somehow began singing the song "Wonderful World" by Sam Cooke.

So there we were, walking the streets of Toronto, singing:

Don't know much about history,
don't know much biology...

...But I do know that I love you,
and I know that if you love me, too,
what a wonderful world this would be.

The moment was just perfect.

Tonight, I decided to let myself rest. I went to Joel's for the evening and we relaxed and watched a movie.

Tomorrow, I will need to get to school extra early to prepare... but it was well worth it.
